Designed in the Arts and Crafts style on Knyveton Road, Cransley is set in a gracious tree lined avenue in the attractive and historic East Cliff area of Bournemouth.
Built between 1908 and 1911 as a seaside country house, Cransley was converted into a small private hotel for paying guests in 1939.
This graceful, detached house is a close neighbour to the homes of some of Britain’s most important and historic Victorian and Edwardian figures. Prime Minister Lord Derby, The Sheriff of Hampshire, Edward VII and Lillie Langtry all had houses on the Knyveton and Derby Road crossroads.
Cransley retains the ambience of a traditional early 20th century private country house yet been upgraded to offer all the quality facilities of modern 21st century living.
The garden is secure and discreet space has been set aside for storing bicycles.
For those arriving by car, we provide free on-site parking for up to six cars in front of the building. There is additional free parking also available on Cransley side of Knyveton Road itself, with more free parking, though limited to 2 hours, on the opposite side of Knyveton Road.
Cransley is a family owned business.
Tim and Jane Bishop’s love affair with Bournemouth started in the 1970s with childhood memories of regular summer holidays spent here for both families. Here’s a happy memory of Jane’s parents on the front at Bournemouth
In particular we think Tim’s late dad would be proud. He loved Bournemouth and always dreamt of retiring here, though never did
Cransley is a lovely building and, like most old buildings, has gradually evolved. We hope you will enjoy its latest updated version. We like to think the original owners and builders would be really happy with
its new upgrade.
